How Much Does an Online Notary Cost in Florida?
The price people see on a marketplace ad and the price Florida law allows for the notarial act are not the same number. How Much Does an Online Notary Cost in Florida? starts with two statutory caps, then the extras those caps do not cover.
For an ordinary in-person notarial act, section 117.05 says the fee may not exceed $10, with the exceptions the statute names. For an online notarial act, section 117.275 says an online notary public, or that notary’s employer, may charge a fee not to exceed $25. The same section says fees for services other than notarial acts—including the services of a RON platform—are not governed by that cap and may be charged separately. Call or text 407-252-5276 and describe the file if you want a quote for your packet rather than a generic ad. Comparing providers with How Much Does an Online Notary Cost in Florida? in mind means asking what is the notarial act and what is the platform, the after-hours window, or the loan-package review. The service menu is on online notary services.
The $10 cap and the $25 cap
The $10 figure is the ceiling for a traditional notarial act under section 117.05, not a statewide menu price for “whatever you need tonight.” A single acknowledgment and a jurat are notarial acts. A fifty-page refinance is many pages of review plus one or more acts, often with a signing agent’s work that is not the same line item as the seal.
The $25 figure is the ceiling for performing an online notarial act under section 117.275. It is not a cap on the technology vendor that hosts identity proofing, the recording, and the encrypted delivery. Florida says those provider services can be billed apart from the notarial fee. When one checkout screen shows a single dollar amount, ask which part is the notary and which part is the platform.
What changes the quote
- How many signers must appear, and whether each one needs a separate identity check.
- How many notarial acts are on the document—one acknowledgment, or several.
- Whether witnesses must be supervised under section 117.285, which matters for some powers of attorney and estate papers.
- Whether the appointment is during the day or an after-hours funding deadline.
- Whether the file is a one-page affidavit or a loan package that has to be checked for initials, name lines, and return instructions.
- Whether an apostille or a trip for an in-person signing is also required.
eNotary One does not publish a flat rate card on this page, because those variables change the work. A quote after a look at the PDF is more honest than a number that ignores the packet. If you later need a written fee schedule, ask for it when you call.
How to compare providers without getting surprised
Ask four questions. Is the person a commissioned Florida online notary you can find on the state notary registry? Does the price include the platform, or is that added at checkout? Who answers the phone after 5 p.m. if a page is wrong? Will the same notary be on camera, or is the file routed to whoever is free? Those questions matter more than a banner that says “from $25,” because $25 is the statutory ceiling for the online act, not a promise that your closing costs $25.
